Refund Policy

Last updated 19 July 2026 · Effective 19 July 2026

We would rather refund you than have you feel stuck with something you cannot use. This page explains exactly when we refund, how much, and how to ask.

This policy sits alongside our Terms of Service and never reduces rights you have by law.

1. Who issues the refund

Payments for Optaru are processed by Polar Software, Inc., which acts as the Merchant of Record and reseller for all purchases. When a refund is approved, Polar issues it to your original payment method. We authorise it; Polar sends the money.

Refunds normally appear within 5–10 business days, depending on your bank. Any tax charged at checkout is refunded in the same proportion.

2. Try before you pay

Every account starts with 3 free products, no card required — one full article and up to three images each, exactly as on a paid plan.

We built the free trial precisely so that nobody has to buy in order to find out whether Optaru suits them. Please use it first.

3. Our refund rules

3.1 Within 14 days of a purchase or a renewal

Your situationWhat you get
You have generated no products on this plan periodFull refund
You have generated some productsRefund of the amount paid, minus the value of the products you generated, calculated at the plan's per-product price
You were charged twice for the same periodFull refund of the duplicate charge
The Service was unusable for an extended period through our faultFull or partial refund, depending on the disruption

The per-product price is simply the plan price divided by the number of products it includes. For example, on a $29 plan of 25 products, each product is $1.16.

3.2 After 14 days

We do not refund the period you are currently in, because the plan has been available to you throughout it. You can cancel at any time to stop future charges — you keep your plan and your remaining products until the end of the period you have already paid for.

3.3 A renewal you did not intend

If a subscription renews, you did not mean it to, and you have generated nothing in the new period, tell us within 7 days of the charge and we will refund it in full and cancel the subscription.

We include this deliberately. Forgetting to cancel is not a reason to lose money.

3.4 Solo (one-time purchase)

Solo follows the same 14-day rule in Section 3.1. Solo never renews, so there is no renewal to refund. Once the 3-month validity has passed or all 5 products have been generated, the purchase is complete and is not refundable.

3.5 Downgrades

Downgrading is scheduled for the start of your next billing period, and no refund or credit is issued for it — you keep your current plan and its full remaining balance until that period ends. You lose nothing you paid for.

3.6 The free plan

There is nothing to refund on the free plan, because nothing was charged.

4. When we cannot refund

5. When something goes wrong technically

Balance restoration is usually faster and more useful to you than a cash refund, but if you would rather have the money, say so and we will consider it under Section 3.

6. Refunds we may issue without being asked

Our payment provider reserves the right to refund an order within 60 days of purchase at its own discretion, in order to prevent a chargeback — and it may do so even where a stricter refund policy applies. If that happens, the related subscription may be cancelled at the same time.

We mention this so that nothing about your billing ever comes as a surprise.

7. Please contact us before your bank

If you believe a charge is wrong, email info@optaru.com first. We answer quickly and we would rather solve it directly.

Opening a chargeback with your bank instead costs us a fixed fee whatever the outcome, and it usually suspends the account while the dispute runs. If a chargeback is opened on an account that has been generating content normally, we may suspend that account.

8. Consumers in the EEA and the UK

If you are a consumer resident in the EEA or the UK, you have a statutory right to withdraw from a distance contract within 14 days, without giving a reason.

Because Optaru gives you access immediately, you expressly request immediate performance when you start your first generation on a paid plan, and you acknowledge that this affects that right: you may still withdraw within the 14 days, but we may charge you proportionately for what you have already generated.

To withdraw, email info@optaru.com with the subject "Withdrawal", or use the withdrawal link in your account settings. Tell us your account email and which purchase you are withdrawing from. We will confirm your request by email and arrange the refund with Polar.

Nothing in this policy limits any right you have under the law of your country of residence.

9. How to request a refund

Send an email to info@optaru.com with:

  1. the email address on your account;
  2. the date and amount of the charge; and
  3. a sentence about what happened — that is genuinely all we need.

We reply within 2 business days and, where a refund is approved, submit it to Polar the same day.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. Any change applies to purchases made after the update, never retroactively to a purchase you have already made.
